to the NGU campus community and to our friends from the surrounding area.

SC Theatre Association Auditions - 11 NGU theatre majors auditioned at the SCTA conference at Newberry College November 15. These auditions are where actors/singers are screened for participation in the regional auditions at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in March 2009. Screenings are held in states throughout the southeast. 6 NGU theatre majors were passed on to the SETC auditions! Congratulations to: Katy Beth Cassell, Ben Porch, Daniel Reith, Roz Stanley, Leah Thomas, and Patrick Thompson.
Theatre majors find great jobs - graduates and current students found great placements after the 2007/2008 year ended. Daniel Jordan is working at Universal Theme park in Orlando and is on tour with the Mitch Lee Puppet Theatre. Ellie Weber is working as a technician at the Barter Theatre in VA. David Holland is teaching in SC and Chris Hecke is interning at Taylors First Baptist Church. Elyse Middlebrooks interned as a costume designer at KY Shakespeare Festival, Brittany Sullivan did stage management work at Stage Door Manor Theatre in upstate NY, and Lydia Campbell is now working on staff with Lifeway. Liz Floto is on staff with Greenville Little Theatre and now coordinates our interns there. Leah Thomas interned as marketing rep for Centre Stage SC and Jessica Snyder is in her final year of the MFA costume design program at Western IL University.
Faculty News: Assistant Professor Corrie Eddleman auditioned at Georgia Shakespeare Festival for summer 2009; Assistant Professor Marlaina Seay is designing sets for a production of The Foreigner at Theatre Tuscaloosa and Department Chair Dale Savidge is directing The God Committee at Centre Stage in April 2009.
Work continues on new theatre complex! Work on the School of Theatre building and the Billingsley Theatre commenced over the summer of 2008. TD Ted Thomas drafted plans for both buildings, worked with 2 theatre majors all summer on the School building, and the architectural drawings for a 300 seat, state-of-the-art studio theatre are now out for bid. Plans are for both buildings to be completed in the next year. The University is finishing work on two art buildings in the Village of Tigerville and soon the energies of the construction department will turn to the theatre buildings.
