PARKING UPDATE
FALL 2009
As we begin a new term, major changes have been
made with regard to the parking and traffic situation on campus. Please take
note of the following policies.
The privileges granted to those with the State issued NGU license plates have
been rescinded. This change was made due to the increase in campus population
and an effort to curtail the amount of vehicular traffic through the campus.
Student safety was a major factor in this decision. All student vehicles must
have a current NGU parking permit and park only in the assigned zone. If you
have a NGU State issued plate assigned to your vehicle as of the first day of
class you will be provided a NGU permit at no cost.
The paved lot across from the Campus Security office is for overflow parking for
Bruce and Units, A, B, C residents only when the main Bruce lot is full.
The parallel spaces on Taylor Street and gravel lots behind JR Howard, Cline,
Hartness and Anthony are for those residents and Cooper Apartments only.
The Horton -Tingle parking lot at the rear gate area is no longer general
parking. This lot is for female resident students only.
Overflow parking for Commuter students will be at the Stadium parking lot. A
shuttle will run daily to provide safe passage to the Main Campus.
Students are asked not to drive to home football games. This will greatly reduce
the amount of traffic.
Cursader Court residents cannot drive to class. These students are asked to use
the shuttle.
This term we are instituting a new policy that we hope will improve the campus
experience for everyone. Resident students will be allowed to park in Faculty /
Staff spaces, those marked in yellow, after 6 pm every evening. This should make
attending campus activities more convenient. With this change comes
responsibility on the part of the student. Vehicles parked in F/S spaces will be
subject to parking citations after 1 am. If a vehicle is left after 1 AM it will
be ticketed. On the weekend this parking privilege will run from 6pm on Friday
evening until 1 am Monday morning. This policy does not include the Donnan
Administration Circle or the parallel spaces on the street between AV Wood and
the Student Center. Please help us make this new policy work for you.
The new campus wide speed limit is 15 mph. Please adhere to that to maintain a
safe campus.
Parking fine must be paid or appealed within 5 business days of the ticket issue
date. After 5 days the will be no appeal and the issued fine will become a hold
on your account. Please contact the Campus Security office if there is a
hardship or financial problem. We want to work with you.
The one-way traffic pattern must be observed at all time except when the rear
gate is locked. Anyone violating this ordinance will be ticketed. This fine is
non-negotiable.
