Storm Hits NGU
Storms slammed the South Carolina Upstate on Monday,
July 21 leaving many without power and causing damage to two buildings at North
Greenville University.
Half of the roof of the Donnan Administration Building blew off landing on a
portion of Neves Academic Building just a few yards away. Damage was minimal to
Donnan due to the old flat roof the building still had intact underneath the
current roof. However, the area that housed the school’s main computer server
was damaged by water.
A quarter of the Neves Building collapsed, damaging the Registrar’s area of the
building.
Approximately 900 Centrifuge and M-Fuge campers were on the campus but were in
worship at the time the storm hit only minutes before they were to adjourn for
Bible study in the Donnan Administration Building.
“Buildings can be replaced but lives can’t,” said NGU President, Dr. Jimmy
Epting. “We are very blessed that no one was injured.
School officials estimated damages to the campus of $500,000 - $1 million. Fall
classes will begin as scheduled on Wednesday, August 20.
