Part Two:
Approved CEVT events
You may only
receive credit once for an event in any semester;
credit is not given for attending the same event
twice - this includes off campus events/museums.
Only 1 (one)
off campus event will count per semester; 2 of your
3 events must be satisfied on campus. Exceptions are
made for students fulfilling internships outside the
Upstate SC area. Email
theatre@ngu.edu
for permission if you are an intern.
Before you
can receive credit for CEVT 1000 the event must meet
the following criteria:
1.
On campus
events
Check the NGU web site [current
CEVT events] for a
list of arts/lecture series events. Not all
events on campus meet the CEVT criteria - only those
listed on this site. Some events
require a ticket for admittance – secure a ticket
from the CEVT office (M 8, lower floor of Turner)
and present it for admittance. Then present your
current NGU ID card to be scanned for credit. No
tickets are accepted - you must have a current NGU
student ID for credit at the conclusion of the event.
2.
Off
campus events [note: only 1 per semester
is counted for credit]
Events which meet CEVT
requirements
In order to receive CEVT 1000 credit for an event
off campus it must meet the following criteria. We
are not passing judgment on other events or
organizations; this limited list is provided to
ensure our ability to monitor the 1700+ students who
take CEVT 1000 each semester.
1.
Art
museums: only the Greenville County Museum of Art
and the Bob Jones University Museum of Art
(the BJU campus location only - the downtown
location does not count for CEVT credit) are
acceptable for credit. You must spend a minimum of 1
hour in the museum and complete a
museum experience
form and turn in a hard copy of the form
to the CEVT office (M 8 lower floor of Turner).
Note: no other exhibits off campus count for CEVT
1000.
2. A
ticketed performance by one of the following
professional organizations: Greenville Symphony
Orchestra, Greenville Little Theatre, Center Stage
SC, Carolina Ballet Theatre, International Ballet
Theater, Warehouse Theatre, Foothills Philharmonic
Orchestra, Chicora Voices, SC Children’s Theatre
performances at the Peace Center.
3. A
ticketed performance by a touring, professional arts
group (theatre, dance, or music) at the Peace
Center. This does not include popular or country
music, stand up comedy, etc.
4. A
faculty-directed ensemble (theatre, music or dance)
at Furman University, Bob Jones University, Converse
College, Wofford College, Anderson University, Clemson University, USC,
or USC Upstate. Note: no student-directed ensembles
or exhibits qualify for CEVT credit.
5. The
event/museum visit must be dated during the semester
in which you are registered for CEVT 1000.
6. If you
desire CEVT 1000 credit for an off campus event
which is not covered by the above criteria you can
fill out an Off Campus Event Request form. You will be notified by the Music,
Theatre or Art departments with a response. If the
event is approved you need to bring a copy of that
approval email with the ticket and program to the CEVT office (M 8, lower floor of Turner). Submit
this request 2 weeks in advance of the event date;
failure to do so means you are not guaranteed CEVT
1000 credit. If you have any question about an
event, use the form to be sure you get credit.
How to receive credit for an off
campus approved event
In order to receive credit for something you
attended off campus you must submit proof of
attendance to the CEVT office (M 8, lower floor of
Turner). If you visited one of the approved museums
you will bring a hard copy of the art museum
experience form to the office. Be sure it is
complete.
If you attend a performance off campus that meets
the criteria above you need to bring a copy of the
ticket and program, with your full name on both, to
the CEVT office.
All CEVT event credits are due the
last day of classes of every semester!
